Harper’s Touch · Young-traveler advisory

Most hotels create for younger guests without ever asking them.

Harper’s Touch gives younger travelers a direct voice in how hotels, destinations and travel brands welcome, speak to and create for them—before another program, amenity, message or “family-friendly” idea is built around adult assumptions.

We share observations and advice from the younger-guest perspective. Your property decides what to implement and remains responsible for every final decision.

We work with a limited number of properties and travel brands at a time.

Young travelers should not only be considered. They should have a say.

Harper’s World and Harper’s Touch were created to give children and teenagers a genuine platform to help shape how hospitality welcomes, includes, speaks to and creates for them. Harper and Suite Society are not interpreting the experience from the outside. They are the guests living it.

The blind spot

Knowing families is not the same as hearing younger travelers.

Hotels often rely on parent feedback, adult expectations and ideas that worked for the last generation. But younger guests experience a stay differently—and they do not always complain when something misses. They simply disengage.

The risk is not always getting something obviously wrong. It is investing in something thoughtful that the intended audience quietly does not want.

  1. 01

Teen programming adults believe sounds exciting—but teenagers would never choose.

  2. 02

A welcome that speaks about younger guests instead of speaking directly to them.

  3. 03

Amenities designed to photograph well without creating anything worth remembering.

  4. 04

Pre-teens and teenagers treated as though they are simply older children—or quiet adults.

Where our perspective helps

Focused on what younger guests actually encounter.

Harper’s Touch does not evaluate the complete hotel or multigenerational journey. We focus on the parts of an experience designed for, communicated to or remembered by children and teenagers.

  • How younger guests are welcomed, acknowledged and spoken to
  • Whether teenagers are treated as their own audience
  • Activities and programs created for children or teenagers
  • Culture, history and discovery made accessible without being simplified
  • Selected dining, arrival and in-room details as noticed by younger guests
  • Names, descriptions, invitations and messaging intended for younger travelers
  • Whether younger guests are given something meaningful to do, choose or contribute
  • What they are likely to remember, repeat and talk about after the experience

What changes

A clearer view of what may be landing—and what may be missing.

Harper’s Touch gives your team a structured outside perspective without pretending that young travelers are all the same or that one observation speaks for an entire generation.

What we may uncover

  • Where younger guests are likely to disengage
  • Ideas that feel too young, too staged or too generic
  • Communication that sounds different to teenagers than it does to adults
  • Touchpoints created for younger guests without meaningful participation
  • Details adults may overlook because they are not the intended audience

What your team receives

  • Clear observations grounded in the agreed scope
  • Priority opportunities rather than an overwhelming list
  • Age-aware questions and recommendations to consider
  • Feedback on selected concepts, programs or communications
  • An optional follow-up conversation as the work develops

We show you what your team may be too close to see. Harper’s Touch provides the observations and advice. Your property decides what to implement.

Working together

Two ways to bring the perspective in.

Your team leads the work. Harper’s Touch brings observations, questions and advice from the younger guest’s point of view. Your property decides what to implement.

Young Traveler Perspective Review

Recommended first step

A focused advisory review of how younger guests experience an agreed part of the property—from the welcome and communication to activities, culture, selected dining and in-room details.

Most property reviews benefit from a blind on-site stay. Experiencing the hotel as a regular guest allows us to understand how the journey naturally flows, what is genuinely available and how younger travelers are welcomed when no special preparation has been made.

  • Defined review scope
  • Blind on-site stay when appropriate
  • Priority observations
  • Written advisory recommendations

Experience Development Advisory

For teams building something

Ongoing perspective while your team develops or refines a specific young-traveler experience, program or touchpoint. This may include teen programming, a welcome concept, cultural participation, behind-the-scenes access or communication intended for younger guests.

Harper’s Touch shares observations and advice as the work takes shape. Your property decides what to implement and remains responsible for all final, operational and safety decisions.

  • Concept feedback
  • Language and positioning
  • Development checkpoints
  • Optional Suite Society input

Who we work with

You do not need to be perfect. You need to be willing to listen.

The common factor is not star rating, size or how developed the current offering is. It is a genuine interest in understanding younger travelers before deciding what they should want.

How it works

Listen. Look closer. Shape.

Step 01

Listen

We learn what your team is building, refining or trying to understand about younger guests and agree on a focused advisory scope.

Step 02

Look closer

Most property reviews benefit from a blind on-site stay so we can experience the natural guest journey, what is genuinely offered and how younger travelers are welcomed without special preparation.

Step 03

Shape

You receive clear observations and advisory recommendations. Your property decides what to implement and remains responsible for all final, operational and safety decisions.

A wider young-traveler lens

One young perspective started the conversation. Suite Society makes it wider.

Suite Society expands the platform beyond one young traveler. Harper’s World’s growing circle of children and teenagers brings different ages, interests, personalities and travel experiences into the conversation.

On selected Harper’s Touch projects, age-appropriate insight may help explore how an idea is received by different younger travelers. Participation offers perspective, not certification or guaranteed approval.

What are younger travelers noticing?

The guests these ideas are meant for should have a say in shaping them.

The perspective behind the work

One younger voice, strengthened by three generations.

Harper’s perspective is the starting point, supported by two generations of travel, family and industry experience behind it.

Harper

The next generation

The younger guest’s point of view—what young travelers notice, question, value and remember.

Desiree

Travel and family experience

Travel-industry experience and an understanding of what families consider when choosing and living a journey.

Andrea

A multigenerational view

Perspective shaped by traveling across generations and observing what creates connection throughout a shared trip.

The complete family journey

The younger guest is one part of a much larger picture.

Harper’s Touch focuses specifically on the perspective of children and teenagers. La Famille independently considers the complete multigenerational hospitality experience through its own Standard.

Insight from Harper’s Touch may help a property think more intentionally about younger guests, but it does not replace or influence La Famille’s independent qualification process.

A Harper’s Touch engagement is not a La Famille review, qualification, endorsement or preferred consideration.

Scope and independence

Clear roles make the work stronger.

Advisory, not certification

Harper’s Touch does not score, certify, qualify or badge hotels. We provide observations and advice from the younger-traveler perspective. The property decides what to implement and remains responsible for every final, operational and safety decision.

Advisory and editorial remain separate

Working with Harper’s Touch does not purchase, unlock or influence a review, feature, award or editorial mention. Editorial decisions across Harper’s World are made independently.

Common questions

What hotel and travel partners ask us.

Is Harper’s Touch a certification, rating or hotel audit?

No. Harper’s Touch is an advisory service focused on the young-traveler perspective. It does not score, certify, qualify or badge hotels, and there is no pass or fail.

What can Harper’s Touch review?

The scope is agreed before the work begins and may include a young-guest program, activity, welcome concept, communication, cultural experience or selected guest touchpoints designed for children or teenagers. Harper’s Touch does not evaluate the property’s complete hospitality operation.

How may Suite Society be involved?

Depending on the project, Harper’s Touch may invite age-appropriate perspective from members of Suite Society on a concept, activity, communication idea or young-guest touchpoint. Their participation offers insight and does not constitute approval, testing or certification.

Does every engagement require an on-site stay?

Not every engagement requires one, but most property reviews benefit from a blind on-site stay. Experiencing the hotel as a regular guest allows us to understand how the journey naturally flows, what is genuinely available and how younger travelers are welcomed and treated without special preparation. Concept, program and communication advisory may sometimes be completed without a stay, depending on the agreed scope.

Does your team implement the recommendations?

No. Harper’s Touch provides observations and advice. Your property decides what to implement, how to implement it and whether a recommendation is operationally appropriate. The property owns the final result and remains responsible for all operational, legal and safety decisions.

Does working with Harper’s Touch help a property qualify for La Famille?

No. La Famille independently governs its own hospitality Standard and qualification process. Harper’s Touch may help a property think more intentionally about younger guests, but it does not provide endorsement, preferred consideration or qualification credit.

Does working with Harper’s Touch lead to coverage or an award?

No. Editorial coverage and Harper’s World Awards remain independent and cannot be purchased, influenced or unlocked through a Harper’s Touch advisory engagement.
